Earlier Apex Heat App updates
Latest updates- New
An energy performance certificate can be sent from the calculation straight to ARA's register
The certifier saves their ARA credentials in their profile, and after sending, the draft certificate can be previewed or signed in ARA's service. Energy performance certificates are enabled per user.
- New
The Pro app calculates the E-number with the energy performance certificate method
The E-number is calculated from the building's details, with ventilation, cooling, heat production and heat distribution each calculated separately. The result is shown as an energy class from A to G, and the calculation was first released as a beta.
- Improved
The summer holiday lasted 76 days
No change was merged into the app's code between 19 June and 3 September 2025, the longest summer holiday so far.
- July–December 2025
Other updates
- Improved: Energy performance certificate inputs got their own form with an AI assistant
- Improved: The report can also be downloaded as a Word file
- Improved: Fireplaces are taken into account in heat consumption
- Improved
The new Pro app shows results as the calculation progresses
The new version has all the fields of the old Pro app and the PDF download. Results appear one part at a time, so there is no waiting for the whole calculation to finish.
- New
The Pro app got its own address behind a sign-in on apexheat.io
The first version made a PDF report from the same inputs as the public calculator. Anyone could sign in, but at first only Apex Heat's own accounts could download the PDF.
- January–June 2025
Other updates
- Improved: Cooling and the use of waste heat can be included in the calculation
- Improved: A valid energy performance certificate's details become calculation inputs
- Improved: Investment costs can be edited in the Pro app
- Improved: The Pro app shows heat losses and the energy class
- Improved: Annual heating costs work as an input
- New
A team member had a baby
The team grew by one.
- Improved
The Pro report draws the borehole locations on a map of the lot
The number of boreholes that fit is now calculated from the lot boundary, and the borehole locations are shown on the report's map. Drilling is either possible, not possible, or unknown when the lot boundary is not known; diagonal drilling was removed as an option.
- July–December 2024
Other updates
- Improved: The Pro report gained a page for the E-number and energy class
- Calculation change: Windows, doors and roofs are assumed renewed every 40 years, which lowers the heat consumption
- New
The Pro app calculates whether energy efficiency measures pay off
The investment, payback time and net present value of energy efficiency measures are now calculated alongside the heat pumps. The results also have their own pages in the PDF report.
- Improved
The Apex Heat app moved to apexheat.io
www.apexheat.io is now the app's main address, and the old heat pump calculator was retired. The blog and the team page arrived on the site in October.
- New
The Apex Heat app makes a report from an address alone
In the first version you search for an address, check the building's location on the map and its prefilled details, such as floor area and annual heat consumption, and download a PDF report.
- July–December 2023
Other updates
- Improved: The Apex Heat app shows yearly consumption, costs and emissions
- Calculation change: Space heating energy is calculated from the building's heat losses
- Improved
The solar plant size is chosen from ten options
The solar report simulates ten plant sizes and picks the one with the highest net present value. The sensitivity analysis runs 75 further simulations for the chosen plant. Solar calculation is enabled per account.
- New
Solar power was added to the calculation and the report
The calculation sizes a solar plant for the building and calculates its production and profitability, and the results show in the report. The solar calculation is switched on in the Pro app.
- Improved
The Pro app's PDF report shows investments as a table and as charts
The new report compares the selected heat pumps in an investment table and shows investment and maintenance costs as charts. It opens with a summary of the lot and the boreholes, and red marks a building on a groundwater area or a lot where drilling is not possible.
- January–June 2023
Other updates
- Improved: An air-to-water heat pump can be calculated as a hybrid alongside the current heating
- Improved: The report gained a sensitivity analysis page
- Improved: The report's language and theme can be chosen in the Pro app
- Calculation change: An air-heated building's investment now includes changing the heat distribution
- Calculation change: District heating emissions now come from klpaastolaskuri.fi
- New
Borehole depth is sized so that the boreholes fit on the lot
The calculation estimates borehole yield from the lot area and gives the depth the boreholes need. If the lot area is not found, it can be entered in the Pro app, or the calculation assumes the required number of boreholes at a default depth.
- July–December 2022
Other updates
- Improved: The Pro app's interface is in Finnish and English
- Improved: The Pro app suggests the roof area suitable for solar panels
- Improved: The calculation's data can be downloaded from the Pro app as an Excel file
- New
Portfolio analysis calculates a whole property portfolio in one run
Apex Heat was the first on the market to calculate whole property portfolios, such as every building of a municipality or a large property owner. The analysis models the heat consumption of the whole portfolio from actual consumption and building data read from Excel or CSV files, and calculates the investment cost and payback time of a heat pump for every property.
- New
The first version compares heat pump options for a building and makes a PDF report
From the building's details it calculates the profitability of ground-source heat, ground-source heat combined with an air-to-water heat pump, and an air-to-air heat pump, and collects the results into a PDF report. Using it requires signing in.
